Empowering and Healing Ways from Romans 12
The Bible book of Romans is a long letter that circulated among the early churches. The Apostle Paul wrote it. In it he reveals that when we put our trust in Jesus Christ, we begin a new life (chapter 6), leaving behind things that are better left in the past, and more and more adopting the ways of God. Here is some of what Paul has to say.
Don’t just pretend that you love others: really love them. Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of the good. Love each other with brotherly affection and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically. Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and prayerful always (Romans 12:9-14, The Living Bible).
Genuine love. Standing with the good. Honouring others. Working cheerfully. Patience and prayer. Can these things renew our minds, our speech and our actions? Yes they can. Will they help us with our mental and emotional well being, and even with our physical health? We can with confidence look for the benefits that come from embracing the healing ways of Jesus Christ.
