Life habits that will increase your chances of getting a nice apartment. “Tips from a landlord.”
- Don’t let your credit rating go down. Spend wisely and pay your bills.
- If you are living in a rented apartment or at home with a family member, don’t move out onto the street. If you live rough, it is much harder to find a new place.
- Never trash your current place and always pay your rent. If you break these rules, it may become impossible for you to ever get another place.
- If you have a job, do not lose it. Change it only when someone else hires you. (Don’t quit when someone says they will hire you. They must actually hire you.)
- Keep your language clean and clear. A person who swears a lot will likely turn off good landlords.
- Most landlords don’t like to rent to people who smoke weed, or show other signs of drug use, or frequently use alcohol. Keep your life free of drugs.
- Try to keep your appearance clean and your living space organized, clean (sparkly) and tidy.
- Choose friends who do not take advantage of you and will make your place messy and noisy. Choose friends who show respect for the apartments and property of other people.
- All this and more you can find in the Bible book of Proverbs. Follow the advice in Proverbs and many good doors will open for you!
And, as always, pray for God to guide you, and work with people who are there to assist with housing.
